2 Week Check Up

When we first got home from the hospital, Jaelyn decided she didn't want to nurse, though she had been doing great in the hospital. We ended up having to feed her with a syringe for the first few days. When we went in for her first check up, she was still losing weight, down to 6lb. 11 oz. The doctor encouraged us to move to a bottle and supplement with formula if I wasn't able to pump enough milk. We followed the doctor's advice and within five days, Jaelyn's weight had gone up to 7lb. 6 oz. YEAH!

Today we went in for our next check up and I'm happy to report that Jaelyn is continuing to gain weight! She is now up to 7lb. 12 oz. We now don't have to go back until she is two months old. Strange feeling to know that I won't be seeing the doctor for six weeks. I've seen her every week (sometimes twice a week) for the last 7 or 8 weeks. It seems weird that we won't see her for six now.

Jaelyn is also nursing more often, though not every time. We're still feeding her bottles with my milk when she won't nurse, but the most important thing is that she is gaining weight and healthy. Thank you, Lord! :)

I can't believe it's only been two weeks since I've seen her and already she has changed so much! I swear she gets cuter every day! MUAH! MUAH! MUAH! I could kiss her all day long! I miss you guys! Love you much! Give Jaelyn lots of love from Auntie Amy! :)
