Jaelyn is a month old today! It is amazing to think how much our lives have changed over the past four weeks. I've not been able to keep up too much with this blog, as some days it's difficult to even get a shower in, but I'll give you a quick update while she is sleeping and my shower is done for the day. :)
We are adjusting nicely to parenthood, though I'd be lying if I said it's been a breeze. We're adjusting to sleeping in three hour increments, and taking turns doing some night feeding. Jaelyn and I get to spend most of the day together, just the girls. Of that time, Jaelyn is in my arms probably 80% of the time. She will often seem to be in her deepest slumber as I carefully lay her down in her crib or bassinet. Often within 10 minutes she is crying, wanting to be picked up. As soon as we do, she quiets down and usually falls back asleep again. So, I'm learning to do many things one handed. Even made dinner the other day with one hand.
We've tried a front carrier Snuggli a few times this week. The first time was successful, after a few minutes of fussing, Jaelyn settled right down and feel asleep against me as I was able to clean up the kitchen, etc. The next time wasn't nearly as successful. She hated it. We'll keep trying it though. If it doesn't work, we'll try a sling for our little one.
Jaelyn is continuing to grow...we've already set aside some of her sleepers that don't fit anymore. Some of them fit everywhere except in her feet. Even the legs are a fine length, but when we get her feet into the feet of the sleeper, she seems like she's about to bust the seams! The girl has got some skis! :)
The month has gone by quickly, and we are kept quite occupied, but it's wonderful. We are greatly blessed by this daughter of ours, and are excited to continue getting to know her.
