WE MADE IT!

This has been an interesting day. Jaelyn and I flew out to Seattle to spend a week with my friend Desiree. I was nervous about flying with Jaelyn, without Scott with us. To make things even more interesting, Jaelyn was diagnosed with a double ear infection yesterday afternoon! JOY!!! So, I'm sure you can understand why I was a bit leery of this whole flying thing. Then, throw in the fact that Jaelyn is very active and does not like to sit still for very long.

Mom and Dad dropped us off at the airport, and Mom came in with us. She stayed with us until we went through the security line. It was a nice help to have her with as I juggled Jaelyn, the stroller, her diaper bag, and her 'toys/snack' bag. Once we got to the X-Ray machine, I only had 25 minutes to get to the gate. Wouldn't you know it, the lady says she had to recheck Jaelyn's diaper bag. Turns out, I had forgotten to take one of her bottles of medicine and a little bottle of hand sanitizer out before it went through the machine. It was totally my fault, but that fact didn't help the stress level as Jaelyn is getting fussy, the lady is unpacking the entire bag, and time is running out. Once we finally got through security, I made the decision to get a bottle of water. I couldn't bring water through the security line and Jaelyn needed something to suck on while the flight was taking off to help the pressure in her ears. Of course, that line was also taking longer than I had. As I was finally able to pay, I heard over the PA System, "This is the final boarding call for flight to Seattle, leaving from gate F8." At that point, Jaelyn and I started running. We only had 8 gates to run, but it was long enough for me. I just started yelling "Excuse us!" "Coming through!" Jaelyn like the ride! :)

We made it to the gate just in time. Our seat was in the back of the plane and we only had one. The flight attendant was very kind and rearranged a few passengers so Jaelyn and I could have an extra seat. THANK YOU, LORD! That was a life saver.

Take off went great. Jaelyn didn't cry at all. Her ears didn't seem to bother her. Again, Thank you Lord! The flight itself was uneventful. Jaelyn was just getting antsy by the time we landed, but she only cried a few times. People around us commented that she did a great job. :) I was exhausted though as I tried to keep her entertained with DVDs, stickers, new books, coloring, and photo on the MP3 player. She did keep occupied for about 30 minutes just opening and closing the plane window. Such simple joys. :)

Getting tired of being in such a small space....(taken with my phone, hence the poor quality)

When we landed, Desiree was waiting for us a baggage claim. YEAH! We're ready to crash tonight, but are looking forward to a fun week ahead of us. Let's just pray we get blessed with two seats on the way home, too! :)
