Big Changes in the Paulson Home!

It's been quite a while since I've updated anything on the blog. It's been a crazy few weeks with the start up of school and a few other changes...

Many of you know that Scott and I live in an apartment and were caretakers in the building. Our position here ended near the beginning of September and we need to move out by October 5th. We've been looking at houses online all summer and had already been preapproved for a loan from the bank, so with this turn of events, we decided to dive in head first into the home buying world!

It's been a whirlwind of activity the last three weeks, but to sum it up, we have found a house we like, we made an offer and it was accepted! There are a few loose ends to tie up like the appraisal, but assuming all goes well, we close on October 24th.

Next weekend, we'll move out of our apartment and into Scott's parents' house for the four weeks before we close. So, we've been packing like crazy and we'll start cleaning this place soon. We hope to be out by the 30th so we don't have to pay any October rent.

Here is the short list of things we won't miss about apartment living and caretaking :
  • Rattling pictures on the wall due to the neighbor's bass,
  • Keeping the door closed so we don't have to smell the neighbor's smoke,
  • Picking up other people's junk that they were too lazy to throw away on their own,
  • 2 am phone calls to break up parties,
  • Cleaning halls that don't belong to us,
  • Having no safe space for Jaelyn to play outside,
  • The train whistles we hear a few times a day, (no trains are near our new home!)
  • Semi trucks jake-braking as they exit the highway 100 feet from our patio door,
  • Making visitors park on the street and walk around the back of the building to get in.

We know God has had His hand on our entire situation and are thankful for how quickly things have moved and how peaceful we have felt through it all. We are very excited about this turn of events and look forward to having our own home. If you're ever out in Central MN, you're welcome to come on by!
