Today, we headed into Keystone. We decided to get some old time photos taken. Des and I got into our Victorian dresses. We only had a short time because we had tickets for the 1880 train 45 minutes later. I showed Jaelyn her dress and she crossed her arms and said she was keeping her shirt on. The conversation went something like this:
MOM: Jaelyn, will you put on this pretty dress?
JAELYN: No! I want my shirt!
MOM: You can keep your shirt on, let's just put this dress on over it.
JAELYN: I don't want the dress.
MOM: Auntie Des and Mommy have pretty dresses on. Let's put on dress on you, too.
JAELYN: No, Mommy. I don't want a dress today.
MOM: If you put on this pretty dress, we'll go get a slushy treat when the pictures are all done.
JAELYN: Give me the dress! (as she starts taking off her shirt.)
I rarely resort to bribery, but when Victorian beauty is at stake, it's a great option. :)
The next battle was getting her to smile on cue. We had her say 'Pickles' in order to get her to smile. The only problem was that she would lift her feet off the chair and grab them each time she smiled to say 'Pickles'. :) Finally the photographer had to say, "Keep your feet down when you say Pickles!" I wonder how many times that sentence has been uttered! After all that, we chose to purchase the serious photo! :)
After the photo shoot, we boarded the 1880 Train which took us on a two hour round trip ride to Hill City. It was a beautiful ride that we all enjoyed.
