House Update

Well, It's been a little while since I've updated this blog. It's been quite busy in our lives. We had the closing on our house last week, Friday. We had a final walk through at 9am with the closing scheduled for 10am. When we arrived, we were surprised to see a dumpster and a van in the driveway. As we entered the home, we were even more surprised to see the kitchen and the bathroom FULL of the seller's belongings. Her niece was the only one there, working to get it all out. There were also more than a dozen boxes in the basement to be carried out yet. We decided not to make a big deal of it since we're not moving in right away. It took the niece until 5pm to get everything out.
There were no hiccups with the closing. All went very smoothly. Scott and I had a nice lunch to celebrate then we hit Home Depot and another flooring store in town to figure out what we like for our NEW HOME!!!
We have all flooring and wall color decisions made. For now, we're replacing all flooring upstairs (except the bathroom) and painting all of the walls. We're going to save the orange and gold shag carpeting in the basement for another day. It's just so retro right now, we can't part with it! *grin* Thankfully, the home doesn't have any major repairs that need to be done. It's all cosmetic. We've decided to take care of those things before we move in. Scott's parents are being gracious enough to let us stay for a while longer as we work on the house. It's been a real blessing for us.
Here are a few photos of the house. You can see the carpeting that Scott and his friend, Eric, tore out, as well as the kitchen and Scott working to get the brown striped wallpaper out of the kitchen. Next spring, we plan to redo the cupboards in the kitchen as well. I'll post more pictures as more progress is made. :)
