It's Been A While

My, it sure was easier to keep up with posting before Miss Jaelyn arrived. Since she entered our world, it's been far more difficult to sit down and even read emails, let alone write anything.

The weekend of the 15th, my family came out to visit again. That Saturday, Scott's sister and mother threw a wonderful shower for Jaelyn. By the end of the weekend, my dad offered to bring Jaelyn and me home with them to Green Bay for a few days. He said it was to allow Scott some time to get more things done and for me to get some rest. Those may have been secondary motivations, but I suspect his main reason was to get some more time with his first granddaughter. :) After discussing it, we decided it wasn't such a bad idea.

Jaelyn did great on the six hour ride out to Green Bay. We stopped half way to get some dinner, feed her, and change her diaper. Other than that, she slept the entire time in the car. Mom and Amy were especially helpful during our stay. Amy is often up until 2 or 3 in the morning on her own, so she often took the middle of the night feedings, giving Jaelyn a bottle that I had pumped for her. She or Mom would then bring me Jaelyn in the early morning for her next feeding. A few nights I got 6 or 7 hours of sleep. I was able to take more naps during the day as well, since someone was usually around to watch Jaelyn. It was a restful week for me, though I think Amy and Mom were pretty exhausted by the time it was done. Thanks guys!

The last few days haven't been as wonderful as we would like. I'm praying it's just taking Jaelyn a few days to get back into life at home, but it's been hard. She's been fussier than normal, and nothing we do seems to calm her for very long. I hate hearing her cry and not being able to comfort her. Thankfully it doesn't last all day, but we're praying we can get this little one figured out. I know crying can be a normal part of a healthy baby's day, but it certainly isn't my favorite part of the day.

It's been fun to see her change and grow. We're packing away some of her sleepers already. While in Green Bay, we weighed her...9lbs. 15 oz. WOW! She has discovered her voice and will spend time cooing and squealing throughout the day. We're seeing some smiles on a more regular basis, and she is getting pretty good about holding her head up for longer periods of time.

Despite some challenges, we continue to fall deeper and deeper in love with this 'sweet pea.'

It was nice seeing you and Jaelyn during your visit here in Green Bay. I got to hold and have a picture taken with Jaelyn. I do not usually like to hold small ones, but this was natural. Jaelyn is special. She made her Greatgrand Mother happy the way she interlaced her little fingers. Like she was prayering..
I hope Scott has made all the right pick for March madness
