Whoops!!!

I was really looking forward to a fun evening baking with Jaelyn. I thought I'd start out with something easy that I've made before: Peanut Brittle. It is one of Scott's favorites for holiday candy. It has been a few years since I've made it so I was looking at the recipe. It said to microwave the corn syrup and the sugar in a microwave safe bowl.

Jaelyn helped me measure the ingredients and mix them up. I put the bowl in the microwave. When it was done, I pulled the bowl out and turned around to set it on the counter. As I turned, I realized the bowl was leaking! I quickly set it on the counter, but it was too late. The bottom had melted out of the bowl and the hard setting candy had dripped all down my counter, my dishwasher, cupboards and puddled onto the floor. Needless to say, that ended our baking for the night. I spent the next hour and half melting and scraping that rock hard candy off of multiple surfaces of my kitchen. I think I'll be buying Scott's Peanut Brittle this year.
