Desiree's Visit

Over my long weekend in October, Desiree came out to visit from Seattle. We a nice time together and she and Jaelyn got to connect even more. :) We Skype with her from time to time, but nothing is nicer than seeing someone face to face.

On Thursday, I picked up Des from the airport and we headed straight to Kelly Jo's house for dinner with her and Roxie (both former roommates of mine). We had a fun time catching up with them and laughing together.

From there, we headed to the movie theater to see Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs in 3-D. Fun movie. Des and I always talk about finding a movie that plays at the same time in Seattle and St. Cloud and going 'together' to see it. It's so much easier to be in the same town and actually sit in the same theater. :)

Friday, we did some shopping and let Jaelyn warm up to Des. It didn't take long and soon Des was Jaelyn's favorite person. :)

Saturday, Scott got a new 'toy' for the yard. He headed outside in the morning to use the leaf blower and we decided to go outside and help for a bit. Jaelyn loved pushing and pulling the rake around in the leaf pile.

After Jaelyn's nap time, we headed to the Amaze 'n Farmyard. After our State Fair experience, I was a little nervous about how Jaelyn would handle all the animals at this petting zoo. Turns out I had nothing to worry about. She was THRILLED to see all the animals. When we walked into the barn, she stopped, looked and screamed..."GOATS!!!!!" Her little arms shook with delight at the sight of all those animals. In the pictures below, you can see any fear of animals as been completely wiped away.

While at the farmyard, she got to pet goats, kittens, puppies, bunnies, chickens, sheep, horses, a camel, and she got to watch a few different types of birds, as well as a wallaby. She also got to feed some of the animals. She ran right up to the camel and held out her cone of feed. The camel stuck his head through the fence and took a bit out of the cone. When he pulled away, Jaelyn's fingers were right on the edge of the cone. Another quarter of an inch and the camel would have bitten her! We pulled her away pretty quick, but she LOVED it! And we loved watching her get so excited.

Jaelyn also loved the 'Giant Slide'. We were excited to take her on this, especially after the one at the State Fair was so fun. However, the adults were disappointed. Jaelyn loved it though and didn't want to leave the slide. I'll let the photos tell the rest of the story. :)

We spent sometime in the pumpkin 'patch', but Jaelyn could still see the slide and correctly deduced that the pumpkins were not nearly as fun as the slide, though they make for cute photo ops!

The last thing we did was to let Jaelyn jump in the Bounce House. Another thing to make our precious little one smile. It took her a bit to get the hang of walking in a bounce house, but once she figured it out, she wasn't coming out. I literally had to crawl in to drag her out when it was time to go home.

Sunday we went to church and spent some time relaxing at home.

Des flew out on Sunday afternoon, and for days, Jaelyn would say, "Des seat" and point to the seat where Des sat in the van. Then later, out of the blue, she'd say, "Des, airplane, bye". Jaelyn missed her when she was gone.

We look forward to seeing Des again. In the meantime, we'll have to continue to rely on Skype for our visits. :)
